An editorial that makes pleasure look like power — and science feel like seduction.
SnackTime blended visual storytelling, neuropsychology, and a little frosting in this multimedia editorial that reclaims indulgence as essential to cognitive vitality and emotional well-being.
Scientific research shows that pleasurable activities activate the mesolimbic dopamine system, lighting up brain regions like the ventral striatum, orbitofrontal cortex, and amygdala — responsible for reward, emotional regulation, and decision-making. Occasional indulgence can reduce cortisol (stress), elevate dopamine and endorphins (pleasure), and even boost executive function in the prefrontal cortex (Epel et al., 2018; Otani et al., 2018).
Thanks to mirror neurons, even watching someone else indulge can trigger your own sensory circuits — sparking empathy, imagination, and embodied delight.
Indulgence is intelligence. Pleasure is a portal.
A sensorial short featuring Bella, For You, For Me explores the science of mirror neurons and the neurobiology of indulgence — through cake, gaze, gesture, and the bold beauty of letting go.
